Day 11: Las Vegas

Last night in AZ, we had dinner at Goldie's Route 66 Diner.  It was a throw-back to simpler days and had Elvis, Marilyn, James Dean and Lucy & Ricky on the walls.  The kids ate at the counter and it was just a fun little spot.
Today, on the way to Vegas, we stopped off at the Hoover Dam.  It was so massive!  It was very interesting to see but it was so hot there that we didn't stay too long.
We got to Vegas this afternoon and we're staying at the Las Vegas KOA right beside the Circus Circus which has a large indoor amusement park that the kids want to check out tomorrow.  Today we saw Rick Thomas, a magician that performs with tigers.  It was a really fun show.  He had a white tiger and a traditional orange bengal tiger and they were so beautiful!  Also, as a cool treat, Criss Angel, the famous magician who has a really big show here in Vegas now, was in the audience one row behind us.  After the show, I caught up with him and asked him to take a picture with Lily, which he did.  He was almost unrecognizable with his hat and glasses on.
After the show we walked around a little.  It a very cool place but I have never been here so I had no idea how many "inappropriate" sights there are here--billboards, magazines, even things in store windows.  There are a lot of things you just don't want your kids to see...or to have to explain!  But they seemed to handle the whole thing well and didn't make too much of anything.  I think it bothered me more than anything because there was nothing I could do about it.  I couldn't cover up signs and billboards so you just hope that you've taught them what's right, I guess.  They were more concerned with when they could go to the amusement park at Circus Circus!
Tomorrow we have tickets to The Price Is Right Live!  Besides not being televised, it's just like the show so we could get called out of the audience to play and they give away actual prizes, including cash and possibly a new car!  I think it will be a lot of fun...and something appropriate for the kids!  It's also my birthday so maybe they'll call me on stage!
