Day 6: Amarillo, TX

Well, I didn't think I'd be able to update tonight but we are having dinner at Amarillo's Big Texan steakhouse which kindly offers free Wi-fi. They also offer the free 72 ounce steak...if you can eat it all in one sitting (that's 4 1/2 pounds if you're not good at math!) along with a salad, shrimp cocktail, baked potato and bread. I know you're wondering--yes, Kevin did contemplate taking on the task. You had to eat it in the center of the restaurant with a timer above your head because there was a 60 minute time limit. He opted not too, although he admitted he likes a challenge. But he would have been miserable the rest of the night which would not be fun for any of us!
We are staying at a campsite in the Palo Duro Canyon which is the second largest canyon in the U.S. (I'm sure you know the first!) We plan to go out exploring this evening and in the morning when it's not so hot-tomorrow's high here is 105! There are supposed to be lots of critters that come out when it's not in the heat of the day--mule deer, roadrunners, wild turkeys, cottontails, bobcats, and (yuck) rattlesnakes (which we hope not to see any of).
Lily lost her top front tooth last night so the tooth fairy had to track us down on the RV but she found us. She also got some cool cowboy boots today and the boys are hunting down the perfect cowboy hat.
Tomorrow if it's as hot as forecasted, we may move on to NM where the high is supposed to be a breezy 98.:)
