We got a rental car fairly quickly and we drove to the park. The first stop was at Lake McDonald where the kids thought they were going to swim. Lily tested the waters but the boys chickened out! We drove up to some waterfalls and they kids played around in the water some before moving on. We didn't get to stay too long--everyone was getting hungry so we left and went to dinner and then caught up on some laundry.
Today, we went back to the park and drove the Go-to-the-sun Road. It is the number one attraction in the park because of the amazing scenery along the drive. We got out at one point for the kids to climb some rocks and eat our lunch along the way. We went up to the Logan's Pass visitors center and saw some very cute Columbian ground squirrels (which are a very close cousin to our prairie dogs) that would eat out of your hand, as well as some mountain goats from another lookout.
The kids talked Kevin into getting in the water at the lake today--it was cold but they braved it for a bit.
Glacier National Park is so beautiful. I know my photos won't do it justice but hopefully you will get an idea of what we experienced.
(FYI-the car keys got here today so we will be moving on from Montana tomorrow. Thanks Mom!!)
