Day 3 & 4: Detroit

Well, the mighty have fallen.  Yesterday the stomach bug got Kevin as well--but the impressive part--he threw up in the trash can while continuing to drive the RV!  Now that's dedication!
With a word of warning to them, we pulled up yesterday afternoon in Kevin's Uncle Danny and Aunt Kimmy's driveway.  They have been more than hospitable to us and their daughter Rachel has been so great with the kids!  They have a young lab mix who has had a blast playing with Sammi and Lulu!  We tried our first "Bumpy cake" which kind of tastes like someone blew up some semblance of a Little Debbie cake onto a full size sheet cake.  It is semi-famous around the area and it was quite tasty!
Today, with Kevin feeling a little better, we joined up with Kevin's cousins Nancy and Chad and the whole big group of us took a trip into the heart of Detroit where we saw where the Tigers play baseball and the Lions play football.

Afterwards we had lunch at Pizza Papalis in Greektown where we had some yummy deep dish, Chicago style pizza.  A little goes a long way so we had enough for dinner!
We came back to Dan and Kimmy's after lunch and the kids got in the pool for a bit with Danny (who I think had as much fun as they did!).  Nancy brought her two dogs over and we had a regular dog park in the back yard!

We took all the dogs (and their people) to the park at Lake St. Clair where we had a nice walk and the dogs (some of them) had a little swim!  It was a beautiful setting and just crawling with people grilling out, laying out, swimming and boating.  It was a nice end to a great day with family!  Thanks so much to Kimmy, Danny, Rachel, DJ, Nancy and Chad for being amazing hosts and tour guides for us!  We appreciate it so much!

I would like to add that our good friend, Dwayne Aycock, went home to be with the Lord
yesterday.  Kevin and I were blessed to have him as one of our groomsmen in our
wedding and as a special part of our lives.  Kevin has been friends with him since they were teenagers.  We will miss you Dwayne.
